FTSE 100 rebounds in morning trading


London’s leading shares rebounded in Wednesday morning trading, led by broadcaster ITV, which surged 3.4%.Overall, the benchmark FTSE 100 index was up 30.76 points or 0.42% by lunchtime at 7,368.19.ITV’s gains partially offset its 4.9% slump in the previous session on Tuesday, when it was the index’s biggest faller.It was followed by equipment rental firm Ashtead Group, which added 2.6%, and Sainsbury’s supermarket, up 2.5%.At the other end of the scale, hospital group Mediclinic International fell 1.9% and troubled doorstep lender Provident Financial continued its decline, shedding another 1.7%.On the currency markets, the pound was up slightly against the dollar at $1.2926 and up 0.026% against the euro at 1.0819 euros.
